The first weekend of March is in the name of coffee when Denmark’s best coffee brewers, tasters and baristas will compete at The Danish Coffee Festival
On March 1.-3. Marketenderiet in Valby will host The Danish Coffee Festival. Three days in the name of coffee, where some of the best cafés and roasters in Scandinavia will exhibit and serve their coffee to the a thirsty audience. While you can sample all kinds of world class coffee, the competition in Cupping (coffee tasting), Barista (espresso brewing) and Brewers Cup (black coffee brewing) will commence at the venue.
Denmark is one of the highest coffee consuming nations in the world, and also the nation with the most world champions in the field of coffee makers and baristas. The winners of this weekend’s competition will represent Denmark in the World Championships later on in Berlin, Germany and Boston, Massachusetts in the USA.
Copenhagen boasts a variety of world-renowned specialty coffee bars where many will attend the festival as exhibitors.
Prolog co-owner Jonas Gehl is the reigning Danish barista champion and he will be there this year, along with The Coffee Collective, La Cabra from Aarhus and Trunk Coffee from of Japan, to name a few. Michelin restaurant 108’s café, The Corner, will serve delicious food during the entire festival.
